Laura O’Hagan Architectural Ceramics

Laura O’Hagan is an artist whose work encompasses both architectural ceramics and sculptural forms. Best known for mosaic installations, she works mainly to commission, ranging from large scale public projects to smaller domestic or exhibition pieces.

Aesthetically, her work is both expressive and respectful of its surroundings, using colour and the lack of colour, afraid of neither scale nor fragmentation. The freedom with which she manipulates her medium comes from the depth of her experience: a behavioural understanding of clay and the way that it can be used to transform the spaces around it. Like waves, each piece is different, but the idea of water runs through them. The intimate pooling of glaze on substrate. The emotional landscape of the sea.

Laura is a member of: Wicklow Craft Foundation, CI – Ceramics Ireland, VAI – Visual Artists Ireland, MAAI – Mosaic Artists Association of Ireland, AIMC – International Contemporary Mosaic Artists, ACSAA – Advisory Committee of sacred Art and Architecture, DCCI – Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.
