Irish Boat Builders Chair

Irish Boat Builders Chair

The Irish Boat Builders Chair which is based on an 1830 design, is hand made by Irish furniture maker Brendan Lawless, using traditional time honoured techniques. Each chair is made in Brendans workshop in his native County Wicklow. The Boat builders chair is unique in that it refers to a stalwart of Irish Iconography, the Currach and is made using the same traditional wood bending processes that carpenters, fishermen and seafarers would have used in the 19th century, Ireland.

Brendan Lawless is a master furniture maker who has been creating bespoke furniture for over 30 years. He has worked in residential , commercial and high end cabinet making, working for private and leading international fashion brands. The Irish Boat Builders Chair marries his love of the traditional (almost obsolete) crafts and techniques and of Ireland maritime history. It is a timeless piece of furniture that will be cherished for generations to come and is a testament to Brendans dedication to his craft.
