Geraldine Flanagan Ceramics
Following my graduation from the Grafton Academy many years ago I was lucky to have the opportunity to specialise in historical costume design with its emphasis on rich textures, fine detailing and sumptuous colours. Over time I continued my artistic studies and to my delight discovered porcelain, loved its purity and translucency, and bought my first kiln in 1996. Since then I have continued developing my craft , in jewellery, in giftware, and in mixed media installations where I have developed a vibrant colour palette.
I work from my small, south facing studio which looks out onto my garden where plants and flowers and indeed berries grow with wild enthusiasm!. Nature provides me with all the raw material I need: leaves, bark, petals and odd pieces of wood. These I imprint on to my clay, fire , glaze, then fire again if I’m using gold lustres.
Living in Wicklow affords me time and opportunity to walk among the natural environment where I am continually in awe of Nature the great Designer!
My works have been sold to private and commercial clients, displayed in Market House Design ( Gorey) Design House ( Temple Bar ) and currently in The Boatyard Gallery in Greystones.
