The Made in Wicklow Showcase – 01 Feb to 9th Feb 2025

Made in Wicklow is delighted to announce – Head, Heart and Hands, The Made in Wicklow Showcase, a celebration of the county’s exceptional craft talent, running from Saturday, February 1st to Sunday, February 9th at the Entrance Hall of Powerscourt House, Enniskerry, Co Wicklow. This free exhibition offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the work of 41 talented craft practitioners represented on the Made in Wicklow platform www.madeinwicklow.com
Following the success of last year’s launch of the Made in Wicklow Digital Craft Trail—an event that drew overwhelming accolade —Sarah Slazenger, General Manager of Powerscourt has invited Made in Wicklow to return with an extended 10-day exhibition. The showcase coincides with the St. Brigid’s Day weekend, further highlighting the deep connection between Wicklow’s cultural heritage and the creativity of its craftspeople
The Head, Heart, and Hands Showcase will feature a stunning array of works across disciplines such as ceramics, textiles, woodcraft, jewellery and metalwork. In addition, visitors will have the chance to attend “Meet the Maker” sessions, where they can interact with craft practitioners, learn about their techniques and discover the inspiration behind their work. These sessions will run alongside the exhibition and can be booked via Eventbrite.
Evelyn Murray, Rural Development Officer at County Wicklow Partnership, expressed her excitement about the showcase, saying: “This exhibition embodies the values of Made in Wicklow—creativity, craftsmanship and community. It’s a testament to the incredible talent within our county and a celebration of the collective artistry that defines Wicklow’s craft sector. We’re thrilled to share this with the public and to celebrate the start of St. Brigid’s Day weekend in such a meaningful way.”
The showcase also marks the official launch of the Made in Wicklow Open Call for 2025. Talented craftspeople and artisans from across County Wicklow are invited to apply for membership to the platform, which offers a wealth of opportunities, including participation in future exhibitions, such as the annual St. Brigid’s Bank Holiday weekend showcase at Powerscourt.
Speaking about the initiative, Liz Wall, Chairperson of County Wicklow Partnership, added: “This project continues to bring together a diverse range of craft producers, strengthening their voice as a collective and celebrating the unique artistry that makes Wicklow so special. With the launch of the open call, we look forward to welcoming new members to this vibrant community and further elevating Wicklow’s reputation as a hub of creativity and craftsmanship.”
The Made in Wicklow Open Call is open to applications from February 1st 2025, to February 16th, 2025. Eligible craftspeople are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest through the Made in Wicklow website, with accepted members being selected by an external vetting committee. The platform continues to advance Wicklow’s Craft Strategy 2023–2027 and plays a central role in promoting the county’s unique craft heritage to both local and international audiences.
The Head, Heart, and Hands Showcase is made possible through the support of the LEADER Rural Development Programme 2023–2027, County Wicklow Partnership, Wicklow County Council, and Wicklow’s Local Enterprise Office. It exemplifies the county’s commitment to supporting its artisans while fostering economic and cultural growth.
The Cinematic Thread
From Screen to Craft Exhibit – Powerscourt 17:17 Exhibit

Made in Wicklow is proud to announce “The Cinematic Thread: From Screen to Craft, Powerscourt’s 17:17 Exhibit,” a unique exhibition that highlights the creativity of local craft artisans while paying tribute to Wicklow’s rich cinematic legacy. Opening to the public on Saturday, February 15th, the exhibition will run until Sunday, March 2nd at the Entrance Hall of Powerscourt House in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow. Admission is free.
This remarkable exhibition highlights the exceptional talent of 17 craft practitioners from the Made in Wicklow platform, each of whom has created an original piece inspired by a costume from iconic films and TV series. Working in collaboration with the Irish Costume Archive Project (ICAP), these artisans have drawn inspiration from productions such as The Favourite, The Tudors, The Miracle Club, Ripper Street and Little Women. Their creations—spanning jewellery, ceramics, textiles and metalwork—will be showcased side by side with the costumes that sparked their imagination, offering a captivating interplay between the worlds of film and craft.
Speaking ahead of the exhibition, Evelyn Murray, Rural Development Officer at County Wicklow Partnership & Made in Wicklow, said: “At its heart, this project celebrates the wealth of creativity that makes up the Made in Wicklow platform. Wicklow has long been a hub for both the film industry and craft production and through this exhibition, we will shine a spotlight on the county’s talented craft artisans and their ability to reimagine cinematic storytelling through their chosen mediums.”
Adding to this, Liz Wall, Chairperson of County Wicklow Partnership, said: “This exhibition is a testament to the extraordinary creativity and craftsmanship thriving in County Wicklow. By bringing together the worlds of film and craft, we not only celebrate the artistic talent within our community but also showcase the unique connection between Wicklow’s rich cinematic history and its vibrant artisan culture’.
Among the 17 costumes on display are Rachel Weisz’s monochrome gown as Lady Sarah from The Favourite, the wedding attire of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Annabelle Wallis from The Tudors, period costumes from Little Women, Sally Field’s cape as Aunt Betsy from David Copperfield, and iconic costumes from the award-winning Vikings, filmed at Powerscourt Estate. These costumes, preserved by the Irish Costume Archive Project (www.icap.ie), will inspire visitors to marvel at the intricate connections between costume details and the creative interpretations on display.
This exhibition has been made possible through the support of the LEADER Rural Development Fund, County Wicklow Partnership, Wicklow County Council, and Screen Wicklow. By uniting local craftsmanship with the legacy of Ireland’s film heritage, the exhibition underscores the county’s cultural and artistic vibrancy.
The Cinematic Thread: From Screen to Craft Exhibit is open to the public, free of charge, from February 14 to March 2 at Powerscourt House. Head, Heart, and Hands: The Made in Wicklow Showcase

Launching the month’s festivities, this 10-day showcase celebrates the craftsmanship of 41 talented practitioners from the Made in Wicklow platform. Returning after last year’s hugely successful debut, the exhibition highlights stunning works across a variety of disciplines, including ceramics, textiles, woodcraft, jewellery and metalwork. Following the Head, Heart, and Hands Showcase, Made in Wicklow also presents The Cinematic Thread: From Screen to Craft, an extraordinary exhibition inspired by the costumes of iconic films and TV series.
