With a passion and talent for drawing, Evelyn studied Fine Art at IADT and it was from there she embarked on a creative journey that looked to work drawing techniques into captivating visual weave structures using the techniques of Theo Moorman.

A passionate abstract landscape painter, she became captivated by how the colours of the Donegal landscape were captured in the heritage cloth of Donegal Handwoven Irish Tweed and taking this as her inspiration, she designed and made her own range of handwoven flower shawls. It was a simple request from a client to make a hat to complement their shawl that led Evelyn to design a range of 1920s inspired hats and of course her source material had to be her beloved Donegal Tweed.

Her early exposure to her mother’s meticulous sewing cultivated a lasting passion for the craft and every Evelyn hat is handmade love and care, a real tribute to her mother’s legacy. Adding a personal touch for 2024, is her ‘Linings of Love’ option – which features printed linings with empowering messages, ensuring that each hat becomes a mirror to self-belief and uniqueness for the wearer.

At one point stocked in 22 shops nationwide and internationally she now sells online and at the Design Loft in Powerscourt.
