Miriam Alcorn is an artist and designer based in Wicklow, Ireland. After a career in Sydney with award-winning agencies and luxury publications, she returned home to pursue a more organic and sustainable creative path.
Her practice centres on cyanotype printing—an early photographic process that uses sunlight, water, and wind to create one-of-a-kind artworks. Inspired by Celtic folklore, the sea, and the wild beauty of Wicklow, her designs echo ferns, wildflowers, seaweed, pebbles, and tidal forms. She creates cyanotype sun-prints on silk and Irish linen scarves, wall hangings, lanterns, and artworks on paper, each piece shaped by the light and season of the day, unique just like in nature.
Miriam works from her home studio in Wicklow town, drawing daily inspiration from the sea, mountains, and forests around her. Cyanotype allows her to collaborate directly with nature, capturing fleeting moments that can never be repeated.
Sustainability is central to her practice: cyanotype is non-toxic, and all packaging is recycled and biodegradable. By combining craft, design, and environmental care, Miriam creates art that reconnects us with the beauty of nature—its patterns, rhythms, and quiet magic. She is a member of the Wicklow Craft Foundation. She currently sells online at www.mirseas.ie and at local markets.
