The Head, Heart and Hands showcase is a vibrant celebration of our county’s exceptional craft talent. Running throughout the month of February and beginning over the St. Brigid’s Day weekend, this exhibition highlights the deep connection between Wicklow’s cultural heritage and the modern creativity of its craftspeople.

This free exhibition offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the work of 41 talented practitioners represented on the Made in Wicklow platform. The showcase features a stunning array of works across diverse disciplines, including ceramics, textiles, woodcraft, jewellery, and metalwork. Located in the historic Entrance Hallway of Powerscourt House, Enniskerry the exhibition serves as a comprehensive look at the skill and dedication of the makers who define the Garden County’s creative landscape. Visitors are invited to explore these high-quality, hand-crafted pieces in a setting that perfectly mirrors the elegance and tradition of the crafts on display.

In Glorious Technicolour ; from Screen to Craft

This remarkable exhibition highlights the exceptional talent of Wicklow’s craft practitioners, each of whom has created an original piece inspired by a costume from iconic film and television productions. Working in collaboration with the Irish Costume Archive Project (ICAP), artisans have drawn inspiration from a new selection of world-class titles including In the Name of the Father, The Tudors, Breakfast at Pluto, Poor Things, and Normal People. Their creations—spanning jewellery, ceramics, textiles, and metalwork—will be showcased side-by-side with the original costumes that sparked their imagination, offering a captivating interplay between the worlds of screen heritage and contemporary craft.

By uniting local craftsmanship with the legacy of Ireland’s film history, the exhibition underscores the county’s cultural and artistic vibrancy.

Experience a spectacular new chapter in the acclaimed February programme. ‘Art in the Ballroom’ marks a significant evolution for Made in Wicklow, expanding from its craft-led roots to present a major curated exhibition of contemporary visual art.

For the first time, the historic grandeur of Powerscourt House’s Ballroom will host an ambitious showcase of 160 original 2D works, featuring paintings, drawings, and fine art prints. This diverse collection celebrates the exceptional talent of artists from across the Garden County, offering a unique panorama of Wicklow’s vibrant creative spirit.

This landmark exhibition is project-managed by the Schoolhouse for Art in Enniskerry on behalf of Made in Wicklow, enriching the programme’s month-long celebration of craft, heritage, and artistic excellence.

Join Wicklow Arts Officer Jenny Sherwin for an engaging morning of conversation dedicated to the spirit of artistic collaboration. Jenny will be joined by Cllr. Peir Leonard of the Arklow ‘402 Art Collective’ and Míde Ní Shúilleabháin from the ‘Wicklow Hills Arts Collective’ to explore how collective practice, shared resources, and regular artist gatherings can strengthen the local creative community.  Made in Wicklow Project Leader Evelyn Murray will officially introduce ‘The Wicklow Arc – where East meets West,’ a visionary new initiative designed to bridge geographical divides and unite artists from every corner of the county.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Powerscourt, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the voices shaping the future of Wicklow’s vibrant arts scene.

Portrait of the Artists: Carlo Gébler & Mick O’Dea (Wicklow Artists Salon #15)

At this specially themed salon in Powerscourt House, renowned artist Mick O’Dea will paint a portrait of the writer Carlo Gébler. Carlo will give a talk about his forthcoming book ‘Nobody Tells You’, a haunting portrait of the final years of his mother, Edna O’Brien.

This salon is a collaboration with Wicklow Arts Office for the ‘Made in Wicklow presents: For the Love of Creativity – a Month at Powerscourt’ programme. Bookings for the Wicklow Artists Salon are through the Mermaid Arts Centre website.

The Shaking Bog: ‘I Wonder’ (Nature Immersive Event)

Families are invited to join the Shaking Bog for a flavour of its successful 2025 Riverscapes project I Wonder, an outdoor nature immersive event for children between 8 – 12 years and their parents. Led by the children’s natural sense of wonder and curiosity, this fascinating exploration of patterns within the winter landscape of Powerscourt gardens will be facilitated by artists and Forest School Leaders, Liz McMahon and Caroline Byrne.

The I Wonder project with children from Curtlestown School sat at the heart of the 2025 Riverscapes project. The impact of weekly sessions in the woodlands of Knockree was transformative for everyone involved. This is a chance to experience just a little of the magic that comes with connecting more deeply with the natural world.

Following the outdoor session, families will be invited indoors for a hot drink and to hear more about the I Wonder project from some of the teachers, artists and children who were involved.

Designed strictly for children aged 8–12 and their parents, this event is free of charge, though tickets are limited and must be booked in advance. Participants are asked to meet at the front arch entrance of Powerscourt House and should come prepared for the elements, dressed suitably for all weather conditions to fully enjoy this outdoor experience.

Kunstverein Aughrim presents: ‘House of Kunst’

This event offers a rare look into the workings of their Aughrim-based curatorial production office, providing insight into the creative processes that drive their unique projects.  The talk will be complemented by a special pop-up version of the ‘House of Kunst,’ their newly launched editions shop. This curated space will showcase a selection of exclusive, artist-led works, allowing attendees to explore and acquire unique pieces while learning about the team’s visionary approach to contemporary art and curation.

Two Wicklow based, accomplished portrait artists Fiona Daly and Tara O’Reilly, will paint a lucky winner (and an invited guest – yet to be revealed !!) simultaneously in a four-hour “flash mob” style sitting.

Ticket Holder Benefits:

  • The Raffle: Every ticket holder is entered into the draw to win a 20x25cm original oil portrait and must be available on Saturday from 10.30 until 3PM for the sitting.
  • The Draw ; will take place on Thursday 12th of February at 2PM.
  • Reserved Gallery Seating: Your ticket guarantees you a seat within a dedicated, roped-off area for the duration of the 4-hour session, providing an unobstructed view of the artists at work.

From Canvas to Cloth ; Claire Garvey                    International Award-Winning Designer & Made in Wicklow Invited Guest 2026

The Exhibition: Wearable Art In this stunning solo showcase, Claire Garvey presents 15 bespoke, hand-crafted, and hand-beaded pieces of wearable art. Each garment is a standalone masterpiece inspired by one of Claire’s ten favorite paintings, with influences ranging from the bold strokes of Van Gogh and Miro to the intricate worlds of Botticelli and Giger. Witness where fine art meets high fashion in this immersive display of texture and color.

Claire Garvey is based in her couture studio in Temple Bar, Dublin, Claire Garvey is a titan of Irish design. A graduate of NCAD and VGIK Moscow, she has spent over two decades creating one-off pieces for the world’s most iconic stages. Her work has been featured at the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Cannes Film Festival. Notable clients include Grammy legend Nile Rodgers (CHIC), conductor Eimear Noone, musician JackL, and Dancing with the Stars judge Julian Benson. From showcasing at New York Fashion Week to appearing in Vogue Online, Claire is a celebrated advocate for “slow fashion” and sustainability, hand-making every piece in her Dublin workshop with a focus on recycled trims and exquisite craftsmanship.

Together, they will explore what it takes to build something truly generational, sustainable, and deeply rooted in culture.

Across a series of talks, workshops, and shared circles, they will knit together craft practice, business insight, and lived experience. This event is not a simple retrospective, but rather an open and generous invitation to listen, learn, and share ideas. Visitors are invited to think alongside the makers, reflecting on where the collective has come from, where it is heading, and what is still unfolding as we look toward the future of this vibrant creative community.
